Besides antibiotics, creams etc what else can i do with my 20 year battle with acne?

Hi, I am nearlly 32yrs and have had acne since i was 11yrs. I have studied beauty therepy and make up so i know how to care for my skin. I have try'ed numerous lotions but they dry my skin out and i tend to develop more spots. The worst my skin has ever been was when i fell pregnant 3 years ago, my Doctor then put me on antibiotics as the acne remained really bad after i had my Daughter. I have tryed 3 types of antibiotics and find the one i am on now which is called Lymecyclin (excuse spelling) helps control the ammount of spots i get but i still develope huge pustules especially around my chin. My Doctor even tryed to see if i could qualify for laser treatment (the older i am getting the more scarred i am getting) on the NHS but unfortunatly they said i did not qualify.

If anyone has any advice they would like to offer me that would be great as it has been effecting my social like/confidence for far too long now. thank you.Besides antibiotics, creams etc what else can i do with my 20 year battle with acne?
check this site to find out how to get rid of pimples and its mark , it has good home remedies hope this helpsBesides antibiotics, creams etc what else can i do with my 20 year battle with acne?
One answer: roaccutane.

It's the heaviest thing there is for acne, it has a lot of side-effects (sore muscles, a bit heavy on your liver etc) but it will get rid of your acne for good

I knew a guy in my class who had HUGE pustules on his face, he was really like a monster..now he has none after 2 treatments with roaccutane
This answer is going to be very vague, but I read somewhere this week (Daily or Sunday Mail UK most likely) about a drug which is currently being used for one thing, now being used for otherwise untreatable acne. Try and google this weeks' news about acne and I'm sure you'll get a hit - or search the daily mail webpage.

sorry about the vagueness though but hope it helps anyway.

Adjust your diet. Diet is the primary cause of most illnesses in the United States. Cut out ALL fried food, candy (the coloring is poison!), soda, alcohol, fatty meat and go easy on sugar and white flour. What do you have to lose?
Change your diet and keep your skin clean, don't put any moisturiser on or spot creams until they become sore. Wash your face with strong soap and use the pore cleaning agents.

Also don't touch your face during the day.
I no its a long shot but why not try cutting milk and cheese out of your diet, my brother has suffered for years and now he just avoids them, it has worked for him, Good luck
Have the same problem and I am now nearly 42. I have tried most things and the two which worked the best were

1) A Steroid roll on face lotion-don't know what it was called but I put it on at night and it cleared my skim really quickly-ask your doctor about that one. Can only be used periodically though as it is a steroid.

2) Chemical peels. These really do work but the effect isn't permanent, they cost a lot of money and to be honest they hurt !

Why didn't you qualify for laser treatment on the NHS ? On what basis were you turned down ? Might be worth seeing if you can get the money together to see a dermatologist privately to see if there are any other treatments they could recommend. I know how much this can blight your life as how happy I am every day depends solely on what my skin looks like. Re the roccutane recommendation I have heard good things about it so it might be worth giving that a go too-good luck. Might even give it a try myself !
Without being able to ask you some specific questions, I would suggest you look into bio-identical hormone creams. Your acne breakouts can be caused by an imbalance of your hormones.

There are two different types of hormones you can take (HRT and bio-identical). There is a difference between HRT (hormone replacement therapy) and bio-identical creams. The HRT's were linked to breast cancer a number of years back and most women were pulled off HRT treatments. HRT's are synthetic hormones (your body knows they are foreign and they don't like them. Bio-identical creams mimic the hormone your body normally produces so your body doesn't think it's foreign. There is a lot of information about his on John Lee's website-www.johnleemd.com. I started using a progesterone hormone cream and I can't believe the difference it's made!!

I am a consultant with Arbonne International (Health and Wellness company). I would be happy to do a phone skin care consultation with you to see if what products could help you. The hormone cream I use is made by Arbonne although your MD can prescribe a higher dose if necessary.

I can forward my web address if you are interested in more information (It's against community rules to leave it here). There are some before/after photos available on my site too.

Good luck-I hope you are able to clear this up. Acne can really take a toll on you physically and emotionally.

If you are interested, I would love to help you!

Will using an antifungal cream on an a pre-existing rash help any while taking antibiotics?

My doctor (who is an idiot) keeps telling me what I have on my hands is not a fungus... though 2 previous doctors and a nurse I know say it is. It flares up if I use anti-bacterial soap, responds to treatment w/ lamisil and other antifungal creams... Anyway, he has put me on a 7-day course of Levaquin to clear up a sinus infection. Does anyone know if using the cream consistently will keep the rash under control in the meantime? Or should I wait on taking the antibiotics until I can (hopefully) get something stronger for it? I plan to change doctors but it will be awhile before I can make another appointment. Will using an antifungal cream on an a pre-existing rash help any while taking antibiotics?
It shouldn't hurt anything if you keep using it...but sounds like you need to go see a dermatologist and get on the exact treatment for it. Do you have a job where you have to keep your hands in water a lot? This might sound odd...but I have seen people with weird rashes on their hands that wouldn't clear up...it turned out be they needed more zinc in their diet..which is easy enough to just try and see if it helps.

I'm on antibiotics for spots. Is it still okay to use facial washes and creams on it as well?

I have been perscribed Oxytetracyline for mild acne

is it still okay to use a face wash and the cream OXY 10?I'm on antibiotics for spots. Is it still okay to use facial washes and creams on it as well?
Yes, won't matter

Is there antibiotics that can clear ring worms? I have tried creams but it aint working to well.?

My kids have had them 4 awhile now i've put piles n piles of cream on it n its not doing to much. Can any1 help? Is there antibiotics that can clear ring worms? I have tried creams but it aint working to well.?
Ringworm is a fungus - not a worm at all, and not a bacterium 鈥?so antibiotics will not work. You need an anti-fungal like Tinactin or Lotriman (spelling?). Ask a pharmacist.

And as to the 1st answer - antibiotics kill bacteria - NOT Viruses!!!! That's why you don't take antibiotics for colds (rhino virus) and flu (influenza virus)....Is there antibiotics that can clear ring worms? I have tried creams but it aint working to well.?
No you need an anti fungal, the same that you would use for athlete's foot. If it has not cleared you may need to ask the doctor for for a prescription.

add-- antibiotics kill bacteria, not viruses, those must run their course.
antibiotics will not kill ringworms, ringworms is a fungus and only anti-fungal cream will ask your pharmacist and see what they have without a prescription.
Try a cream called ketoconazole. Also known as Nizoral. You can only get it from the doctor and it works.
HAVE YOU TRIED AN ANTI-FUNGAL CREAM, IF YOU HAVEN'T THEN YOU NEED TO, GO TO THE PHARMACY AND GET THE STUFF THAT TREATS ATHLETE'S FOOT, ITS THE SAME KIND OF FUNGUS
Anitbiotics kill viruses so that would be a no. Go and ask a pharmacist at a chemist or see a doctor.

  • Antifungals,antibiotics,creams鈥?should they be used?

antifungals like nizoral, and creams like monistat ,should they be taken as a one course drug? if taken alone like maybe taking nizoral alone can they add ,more symptoms than initially noticed,i have a little girl 3 yrs of age who has been suffering the symptoms so much after taking the drug, what is the use of these drugs are they supposed to bring the infection on the surface of the skin, please help me.and then be cleared using the creams.Antifungals, antibiotics, creams鈥?should they be used?
You should NOT be using this type of medication on a 3 year old child without the advice of a doctor. Get your child some proper medical help now. If you cannot afford to pay for a decent doctor, then go to the most reliable free clinic you can find as soon as possible.Antifungals, antibiotics, creams鈥?should they be used?
what was your daughter diagnosed with for the medication? Nizoral is a topical antifungal (not an antibiotic) that treats skin fungi like ring worm. Monistat is usually prescribed for vaginal fungal infections. They are usually well tolerated in all patients but do have a risk of some side effects. http://www.medicinenet.com/ketoconazole/鈥?/a> should help. If the side effects are worse then the initial problem, contact for doctor for a different treatment option. They should only clear the surface infection from outside to the internal layers of the skin. I hope this helps.

To comment on the latest poster, my doctor prescribes ketoconozal (Nizoral) for my 18 month old and 3 year old daughters who suffer from frequent ring worm. They both have very acidic skin which kills off natural skin bacteria and allows the fungi to grow. This is a genetic trait, harmless, and there is no way to prevent it (only the cream to treat it). So yes, this medication is safe to use on young children with proper doctor supervision.
