Hi, I am nearlly 32yrs and have had acne since i was 11yrs. I have studied beauty therepy and make up so i know how to care for my skin. I have try'ed numerous lotions but they dry my skin out and i tend to develop more spots. The worst my skin has ever been was when i fell pregnant 3 years ago, my Doctor then put me on antibiotics as the acne remained really bad after i had my Daughter. I have tryed 3 types of antibiotics and find the one i am on now which is called Lymecyclin (excuse spelling) helps control the ammount of spots i get but i still develope huge pustules especially around my chin. My Doctor even tryed to see if i could qualify for laser treatment (the older i am getting the more scarred i am getting) on the NHS but unfortunatly they said i did not qualify.

It's the heaviest thing there is for acne, it has a lot of side-effects (sore muscles, a bit heavy on your liver etc) but it will get rid of your acne for good

This answer is going to be very vague, but I read somewhere this week (Daily or Sunday Mail UK most likely) about a drug which is currently being used for one thing, now being used for otherwise untreatable acne. Adjust your diet. Diet is the primary cause of most illnesses in the United States. Cut out ALL fried food, candy (the coloring is poison!), soda, alcohol, fatty meat and go easy on sugar and white flour. What do you have to lose?

Have the same problem and I am now nearly 42. I have tried most things and the two which worked the best were
1) A Steroid roll on face lotion-don't know what it was called but I put it on at night and it cleared my skim really quickly-ask your doctor about that one. Can only be used periodically though as it is a steroid.
2) Chemical peels. These really do work but the effect isn't permanent, they cost a lot of money and to be honest they hurt !
Why didn't you qualify for laser treatment on the NHS ? On what basis were you turned down ? Might be worth seeing if you can get the money together to see a dermatologist privately to see if there are any other treatments they could recommend. I know how much this can blight your life as how happy I am every day depends solely on what my skin looks like. Re the roccutane recommendation I have heard good things about it so it might be worth giving that a go too-good luck. Might even give it a try myself !
Without being able to ask you some specific questions, I would suggest you look into bio-identical hormone creams. Your acne breakouts can be caused by an imbalance of your hormones.
There are two different types of hormones you can take (HRT and bio-identical). There is a difference between HRT (hormone replacement therapy) and bio-identical creams. The HRT's were linked to breast cancer a number of years back and most women were pulled off HRT treatments. HRT's are synthetic hormones (your body knows they are foreign and they don't like them. I started using a progesterone hormone cream and I can't believe the difference it's made!!

Will using an antifungal cream on an a pre-existing rash help any while taking antibiotics?
My doctor (who is an idiot) keeps telling me what I have on my hands is not a fungus... though 2 previous doctors and a nurse I know say it is. It flares up if I use anti-bacterial soap, responds to treatment w/ lamisil and other antifungal creams... Anyway, he has put me on a 7-day course of Levaquin to clear up a sinus infection. Does anyone know if using the cream consistently will keep the rash under control in the meantime? Or should I wait on taking the antibiotics until I can (hopefully) get something stronger for it? They both have very acidic skin which kills off natural skin bacteria and allows the fungi to grow. This is a genetic trait, harmless, and there is no way to prevent it (only the cream to treat it). So yes, this medication is safe to use on young children with proper doctor supervision.

Is it safe to use steriod cream and antibiotics together? worried :(?
I was prescribed yesterday morning with a steriod cream off my gp as i have chronic itching due to a bacterial skin condtion then in the afternoon i went to the dentists and they prescribed me amoxicillin as i have a mouth infection as my wisdom teeth are rotten.
Im 22 weeks pregnant, im really worried about taking these two together the cream does not seem to be working yet and is not coolin the itching at all, can i take them both together without doing any harm im really fretting about this as i usually get bad tummy with antibiotics but i wont take them if it poses a risk to my baby.

I had a lung infection while pregnant so had antibiotics. The placenta filters out most things and as this is a prescription drug you should be fine. I would check with your GP though as the prescription came from the dentist.
I can't answer the steroid question but as that came from the GP it is surely safe? I can't see how a cream applied to the surface of the body could find it's way to the placenta and the baby.
if a GP perscribed them both I'd say you'll be fine. i can't see mixing cream and oral tablets being used at the same time causing any problems. Why don't you contact your GP or midwife?

If the cut scabs up on itself and the dog isn't bothering it, leave it alone. I have a rash that antibiotics & antifungal cream wont clear up ?
the rash is on my inner thighs its like a group of small red spots that is itchy, especially at night iv had this for like 4 months.
Also on my penis and scrotum i have had like a bad itch on certain places then a red hard lumpy spot appears that has no puss but is hard grows wen you itch it. They go away but take a week or so.

I believe its because they put too many things in their mouths and its not good to ingest it. Mild soap and warm (not hot) water a few times a day. You also might try New Skin. It helps rebuild the skin faster and keeps infection out but be warned it stings really bad for a few minuteslove myspace
