If i use antibiotic cream on a piercing will it stop the start of a possible infection?

NOOO. Some advice people are giving is terrible, my goodness.

Do not use any cream on a piercing, it will keep the air from getting to it, so it will only do your piercing bad. Also, NEVER use alcohol or peroxide like people are suggesting.

If you suspect it's getting infected use dial antibacterial soap twice a day to clean it, or warm sea salt soaks.

Be careful who you listen to, and good luck! :]If i use antibiotic cream on a piercing will it stop the start of a possible infection?
Our avatars look alot alike! =)

Which piercing? The best thing you can do it mix some rock sea salt and warm water and using a q-tip, get it moist and rub over the piercing. They will tell you to do that with almost any piercing. You aren't very specific so I don't know what kind you have. If its a tongue or a private area take some Ibuprofen and be sure to always use a soft wash or rinse. If its the ears, or any facial or surface piercing just take some aspirin and use the salt water mix i told you about. If it is already badly infected just take it out becacuse it can very painfulIf i use antibiotic cream on a piercing will it stop the start of a possible infection?
It'll kill most types of infections, because it kills most bacteria and viruses. However, there are obviously certain types of bacteria/viruses that are immune to the antibiotics used in the cream, and they can still cause an infection.

But antibiotic cream kills about 99% of germs, so there's only about maybe 1% that can get you... aka the chance is realllllyyyy small that you will get an infection.

in short: it will 99% stop it, so ur good.

(However, I'd suggest you just get rid of the damn piercing, they don't look good on girls except earrings it looks trashy and i wouldnt want my girl to have any stds.. no offense!... and uhhhh on guys theres no question, thats for fagbags. so yeah... but do what you want)
What you want to do is go to Walmart or Sally's and buy some ear cleanser for newly pieced ears and if you put it on anything it keeps it clean with out getting an infection. I just got my nose pieced and that is what I did and I changed the ring before i was sopost to and i kept it clean with that and my nose has not got infected and my mom is a Provencal ear piercer so Hope this helps.

God bless you! %26lt;3
yes the best thing to do is keep triple antibiotic ointment on while the healing process just put it on the piercing and around it should keep it from getting infected just remember to clean it 3 times a day
yeah, but you should get the bactiene spray. it'll fit in your purse, and you won't have to take the new piercings out to apply it without it being really visible. Also, since it's a spray, you don't have to worry about touching the area with possibly dirty hands.
depends what you have pierced.

i know with my navel piercing your not supposed to use anti-bacteria ointments.

to be safe you can mix warm water with sea salt(salt with no iodine in it!) then use a q-tip to clean it.
keep the piercing clean. always clean it. you can use a little antibiotic like neosporin but don't use it a lot. see a doctor if it is red and leaking puss.
only use an antibiotic cream if it's prescribed by your doctor. Otherwise you could be promoting antibacterial resistance, and your problem (and others) could get worse. consult a doctor.
Yeah.. Also you can try a half water half peroxide solution.
it will keep it from getting further infections, and help the growing infection to lessen.
I would think so. That is what I use and so far I have never had any infections. I believe you are okay with that.
Hey

Yea it most likely will.
it definitely should
Yep most likely
use peroxide first ,then the cream ya,it will help
It can help, but if it's already started you might want to see a doctor.
Yes..
NO your not suppose to put anything on it, besides peroxide.
