I have a under one year old who cut her pointer finger straight through the nail and she also has a blood blister on the top of it. So I was going to put polysporin on it until I read the warning label. Does anyone suggest anything else to keep this injury clean? Is a doctor visit needed? Why is antibiotic cream harmful for children under the age of two?
Since it's on the finger, I wouldn't put anything on it since she may put the finger (and the medicine) in her mouth. I would call the doctor's office and ask them for advice.
My daughter had a tiny bruise on the back of her head just after she was born and the doctor told me to put Neosporin on it. So, my guess is that Neosporin is safe to use on babies (although I wouldn't use it if they had a chance to get it into their mouths). Why is antibiotic cream harmful for children under the age of two?
