Washing zinc oxide cream from hair?

My 2 year old found the diaper rash cream and rubbed it all into his hair. We have already shampooed his hair but the cream won't wash out. His hair is still all stuck together. The zinc oxide won't wash out of the carpet either.

What is a good natural way to wash the cream from his hair? I have tried olive oil and it doesn't work either. I'm considering dish soap but I'd rather use a natural substance rather than a chemical. Any ideas?

10 points for best answer. Washing zinc oxide cream from hair?
For the hair: use Dawn dishwashing soap. We use that to clean even baby birds that get damaged by an oil spill. Be sure to rinse it well; then rinse it 2 more times.

For the carpet: put flour or cornmeal over the area, cover with paper towel, press with foot, vacuum. Repeat as necessary for as long as it takes.
